National LGA OD Network

Important changes to the network

In 2020 the LGA set up a virtual national OD network. The aim of which was to help increase capability in council’s organisational development (OD) leads/teams. The project and network was to help councils OD teams share practice and collaborate in response to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The network has attracted over 70 councils and has 120 members – a strong and active OD community we want all LG OD practitioners to be part of.

Whats New??

New Ambition

As we move forward, we aim to grow and evolve this network. Our intent and ambition is to raise the profile of the importance of OD in local government, something the network has discussed on many occasions. We want the network to have a clear identity and focus for its members and to help reflect this, we are renaming and branding network the Culture & OD Exchange (CODE) – the OD practitioners’ network for local government.

Basecamp Reregister and Refresh

The current basecamp has proved an effective tool for online collaboration, with lots of interaction and sharing of practice. We aim to keep using this platform, but we aim to refresh and configure how we utilise the features to greater effect. As part of our GDPR commitments this refresh will require a need for you to reregister. Sorry for this inconvenience but we hope you won’t mind! Please reregister or if your new sign up to Basecamp CODE below. The previous basecamp site content and information will be transferred to Basecamp CODE.

New Facilitation

Along with this change there will be new lead facilitators for the CODE Network. West Midlands Employers have been commissioned to facilitate the network from September 2022. West Midlands Employers will continue to work nationally alongside the LGA, connecting networks across all the Regional Employers Organisations. Working closing with North West Employers, who previously facilitated the network, building on the learning and success to date and making transition as seamless as possible.

New CODE Website

Alongside basecamp there will be a new website for members of the National LGA CODE network which we will use as tool for guidance and promoting the work of the network. We aim to launch this later in September 2022.

New Approach to workshop sessions

We aim to continue to provide the network with workshop sessions. These will take place over 12 months starting in September in the format of;

  • six 1-hour virtual workshops for the CODE network – with appropriate guest speakers aligned to the priorities of the network.
  •  six 45-minute virtual unstructured open drop-in sessions for network members to discuss key issues raised e.g. through Basecamp or at previous sessions

Sector Specific OD Research

A key aspect of the CODE Network will be a sector specific CODE research project for the network. At the first workshop in September, we will discuss the research with you which we hope to link to our new ambition. We will be posting details on base camp and the new website.
